Mobile Event Apps – The DoubleDutch Experience

In a report by DoubleDutch, an event applications and tech company, showed from data compiled from meeting planners, showed that 63% of planners are using event apps. The report makes the conclusion that within 6-12 months there will be a Mobile App adoption rate of up to 85% by event professionals across a wide range of event and hospitality industries. Mr Pankaj Prasad, Co-Founder/Business Development at DoubleDutch, spoke to MICExchange during EIBTM 2014.

In terms of large scale App adoption, it was announced at EIBTM 2014 by American Express Meetings & Events that it had teamed up with DoubleDutch, a global provider of mobile event technology with an exclusive dashboard for meetings professionals to provide metrics from American Express Meetings & Events to assess attendee experience.

Thulani Nzima-CEO-193987Similarly, Thulani Nzima, CEO of South African Tourism also announced, that the South Africa National Convention Bureau (SANCB) had signed a partnership with DoubleDutch to offer an event management app at the 10th edition of Meetings Africa next year, noting that its adoption would fundamentally change the way the SANCB manages its events diary and hosted buyer programme.

Mr Pankaj Prasad from DoubleDutch spoke about the future of Event Apps and he stated, “Over the course of the last four years since the company was founded, we found that the Mobile App was starting to become an integral part of the event experience – it’s no longer that the first experience of the event is when they walk in the door – it’s actually when they download the App two or three weeks prior to coming to the event, then throughout the course of the event, they leverage the App to make sure they are having the experience they want.”

He went on to say, “ In terms of adoption of technology by event organisers, we beleive it is still very early days  –  At DoubleDuch we believe that in 3-5 years this is going to become the most important aspect of event planning.”
