Y.C. Chao, president and chief executive of TAITRA, the Taiwan External Trade Development Council, at his opening address to EXCO Taiwan 2011, said that Taiwan’s successful bids for an increasing number of major events and the enhanced scope of facilities had played a large part in the evolution of MICE in Taiwan. A four year project to upgrade MICE infrastructure, marketing and overall sector development is paying off for Taiwan.  Mr Chao noted that while  the MICE industry in Taiwan is still in its early stages of development, it has a bright future.
He also pointed out the approach to sustainability and the “greening” of EXCO Taiwan 2011 as an example of the industry’s innovative and proactive espousal of environmental-friendly designs and services.  Another factor seen in the show, he said, was the integration of more new technologies into the MICE business.
