INDABA 2014 was a great forum for destinations to present themselves to both Africa and the world. Tanzania took the opportunity to present about 30 different properties and suppliers to the Tanzanian tourist market. Ms Devota Mdachi, Director of Marketing for Tanzanian Tourist Board (TTB) spoke to MICExchange’s editor Greg Winn on just what tourism means to Tanzania and how TTB is using INDABA as a platform to promote itself.
The Tanzania stand at INDABA was both colourful and busy as it showcased to tourism stakeholders, their products to Africa and the rest of the world.
Tanzania was well represented at INDABA 2014 in a forum where they could seek to expand their business opportunities and at the same time, , market Tanzania to the rest of Africa and indeed the world. INDABA has become a truly Pan-African event that also draws significant international interest. Tanzania is expecting more business from tour operators within and outside the African continent in the coming years
Devota Mdachi the marketing director of Tanzania Tourist Board (TTB) said that Tanzania has big prospects and many people are interested in visiting the country especially now that three of its big tourist attractions have been entered in to the seven natural wonders of Africa. These are the Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater and Mount Kilimanjaro.
According to Ms Mdachi, Tanzania should be in high demand for the remainder of this year and years to come. The tourism industry would also benefit from more publicity through its efforts in wildlife conservation which would further support its tourism industry.
